Mesut Ozil’s dump in form - - - Worrying factor for Arsenal? Not Really though! Find out here.

For a playing moving to a new country, and playing in front of new opposition has never been an easy task because he has to shrug of all the homesickness, friends, familiar atmosphere and the fans behind in order seek greener pastures and more often than not, he takes time in adjusting before showing his magic. Well, in Ozil’s case, the exact opposite has happened.

Ozil’s dump in form: Worrying factor for Arsenal?

He started his new journey with an awe inspiring performance, which included an assist against the Sunderland side, and suddenly everyone was busy raising his share. That performance just included him in great players’ category who perform everywhere without getting too taken apart by the conditions and he bestowed these kind of performances to gather applause from all ends of Emirates. And As you know that, he worth every penny of it.

Then suddenly as he just came back to earth and his performances came back to the level of sanity, his performances got a dip and similarly that of Arsenal. Bad thing for him is that his performances just evaded him when it matters to his new team the most, and that’s exactly the reason why his performances are under electron microscopy at the moment.

Ozil collected 8 assists and added 4 goals to his name to set the tone of his perfect career, and in doing so he has dismantled teams like Liverpool, Napoli and fearful physical sides like Stoke.

Then like a bolt from the blue, starting from the match against United, his graph fell down, and people from other sides were quick to point out his weaknesses as you would expect any football fan to nail down the opposition star players.

As indicated by statistical giants WHOSCORED, Ozil form hasn’t been above average in the last two months, so what factor has contributed in it, Probably injuries to his fellow players, probably his injury has affected that chart as well, but one more look at the Arsenal fixture and you will know that he hasn’t performed well against those big names in the Premier League so far.

Ozil against bottom 13

Against bottom teams, his graph has frequently touched the #10 mark, that indicates he is clearly victorious in this case. His average rating according to whoscored is 7.55 against the bottom 13.

Ozil against top 7

However against top 7, he has shown glimpse of the results produced above, but can’t produce them on a regular scale. Average rating becomes 6.07

So the main reason Ozil is being neglected is his performance against the big guns, where the fans who haven’t turn out on against lowly sides come out and expect you to perform so that they have a good story to tell when they ride back home. And that is where he has failed to make his mark so far this season.

One more contributing factor to his poor showdown at the moment is his price tag (Remember Andy Carrol), Frankly speaking, even when he fails to deal with a single ball, that price tag makes the headlines next morning, and with current demise of form, you could expect the media to push him on all fours.

So what should the Arsenal fans and Ozil himself do at the moment? They should look at the Liverpool way, not the TV series of course, but how Rodgers stood by his players when they were under performing, Even Gerrard has a bad patch this season but Rodgers changed his role allowed the English Captain to take his time on the ball and the result was eminent.

So there isn’t a trace of doubt that Ozil won’t bounce back, he would but for that debacle to happen to the other teams in front of the Arsenal fans, gunners should first support him through the dark passage his is going through at the moment.
