It
is always difficult to choose top players from a long list of legends.
5. John Barnes (1987–1997)
The
50-year-old winger made a great impression both on and off the pitch by becoming
the first black player for Liverpool during a time of deep racial inequality.
He
was unstoppable winger especially in 1987-88 season when he was awarded the
football player of the year award as Liverpool won the title
The
Jamaican born player scored 108 goals in 407 games for Liverpool in his 10 successful
years at Anfield. He was blessed with power, pace and skill.
4. Ian Rush (1980-1987 and
1988-1996)
Liverpool
all-time top scorer with 346 goals in 660 appearances. He was a tireless
worker, a perfect attitude and a top man.
The
Welsh striker won five league titles, three FA Cups, five League Cups and two
European Championships. And many individual award including golden boots of
different competitions.
3. Billy
Liddell (1938–1961)
Another
winger with many different qualities. He played 16 years at Liverpool and scored
228 in 534 matches for the Reds.
He
was LFC’s leading goal scorer in the league in 8 out of 9 seasons from 1949-50
to 1957–58.
The
Englishman died on 3rd July 2001.
2. Kenny Dalglish (1977–1990)
King
Kenny scored 172 goals for Liverpool, his goal in 1978 European Cup final is unforgettable.
Dalglish
and Rush were the deadliest strikes of their time.
After
retiring from football he remained a loyal servant to LFC and managed LFC for
six years and gave the many trophies including three league titles, two FA Cups
and a League Cup.
1. Steven Gerrard (1998–Present)
Liverpool
and England captain Steven Gerrard has providing constant force from the midfield
since his debut for LFC under manager Gerard Houllier back 1998 against
Blackburn Rovers.
The
33 year old is currently playing 16th season for Liverpool. He has
scored 162 goals in 646 games for Liverpool. A complete midfielder has also
made more than 100 caps for his country.
