The Dutchman has not started a game since last April. In 2012 Borussia Monchengladbach signed him for £12 million. While Newcastle were also interested that time but failed to win the battle. But this time they are close in signing the player. The 23-year-old has reached an agreement and will arrive for a medical.

The German side has confirmed via their Twitter account that De Jong did not train with them and was set to move to England.

De Jong wants to be a part of Netherlands squad for the World Cup but for this he needs time on the pitch to prove his game.

While on the other side Newcastle have agreed to sell their star midfielder Yohan Cabaye to Paris Saints Germain.

PSG’s president has told that they are discussing but the deal is not finalized.
