Fifa president Sepp Blatter thinks that there should be a penalty for diving and time wasting on the pitch in the form of fake injury.

Sepp Blatter has proposed that there should be a time penalty for diving in football, yellow card is not enough nowadays.

Blatter proposed time penalty for diving

Blatter feels that players who get treatment on the pitch during a game and are not badly injured should also have to wait longer before returning to pitch.

He said in a weekly FIFA column that he finds it irritating, when the player is not seriously injured and joins the game as soon as they have left the field.

The referee can order the player to wait. In practical this is a time penalty.

Former referee Dermot Gallagher agrees to such penalty but feels punishing those players may not be possible in Blatter’s way.

Ex-PremierLeague referee Gallagher further said that a very brave referee is required for this task who can say players were not really injured.

Blatter made these comments just after the two days of Oscar’s dive against Southampton.

ManchesterUnited youngster Adnan Januzaj has received three yellow cards for simulation.

Fifa's vice-president Jim Boyce also proposed the use of video, if it is a dive according to an ex-referee, an ex-manager and an ex-member of PFA then the player should get a three match ban.
