La Liga: top players so far in 2013-2014 season. Find out who leads the list. Diego Costa, Ronaldo or Messi?

Atletico Madrid is sandwiched between the two Spanish giants at the top of the table after 17 games in La Liga.


Here are the top five players this season.

5. Ivan Rakitic - Sevilla
The most surprising player in this list is the Sevilla captain. The 25-year-old midfielder has playing good football.
He has scored seven goals, including two again Real Madrid and one against Barca.  He has also assisted 6 goals so far this season.
Rumours are saying that Liverpool are targeting the former Schalke 04 midfielder.

4. Neymar - Barcelona
£50million Barcelona signing Neymar is on 4th place. The 21-year-old who helped Brazil to lift the Confederation Cup trophy last summer has not been exceptional in terms of goal scoring for Barcelona since his arrival from Brazilian side Santos but has assisted 8 times and is currently on second place in top assists chart.

3. Lionel Messi - Barcelona
Messi is currently side-lined due to a hamstring injury and will return in January.
The four times Ballon d’Or winner has scored 8 goals this season in La Liga. Now it is difficult for the Argentinean to win the Golden boot award this season as Cristiano Ronaldo and Diego Costa are scoring in every match.

2. Diego Costa - Atletico Madrid
Diego Costa the main man for Atletico Madrid this season. Costa has been sensational this year and he has filled Radamel Falcao boots easily.  The Brazilian born player is currently the topgoal scorer with 19 goals. He recently opted to play for Spain over his native Brazil.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid
La Liga's second top scorer, with 18 goals to his name already. Cristiano Ronaldo is enjoying form of his life. Ronaldo is in front seat to win the Ballon d’Or award this time. Madrid are on 3rd place with 41 points, 5 points behind the above two teams.
