Roy
Hodgson was handed a tough draw yesterday in Brazil. The three lions will face
Italy in their World Cup opener before other group teams Uruguay and Costa
Rica.
England
captain Steven Gerrard will face his teammate Luis Suarez who will be playing
for Uruguay in the World Cup, match will be played on 19th June in
Sao Paulo, after that England will end their group stage challenge by playing
against Costa Rica on 25th June in Belo Horizonte.
Hodgson
told Sky Sports after the draws that in last World Cup, everyone was thinking
that what an easy group England had and expected that they would qualify easily
but it didn't happen. Each game was tough.
He
further told that no one should forget that they have unearthed some talented
players in the last few years and re-energized the squad. It is certainly a lot
tougher and deeper, and hopefully they will not get too many injuries before the
World Cup.
Hodgson
said regarding Uruguay and their star attacker Luis Suarez that they know he is
a good player.
He
will give England defence a hard time.
But
England have good players too. Maybe everyone will be talking about Wayne
Rooney and Daniel Sturridge after the World Cup.
Following are the eight groups.
