Does Liverpool transfer policy need a U-turn? It would be important for Rodgers to get his priorities right when the Winter window arrives, otherwise this time he will be at the center stage, facing the heat from LFC fans for 6 months.

“Shambles” would be the perfect word to describe Liverpool’s performance against Hull, Despite of the fact that Hull are a newly promoted side, it looked like entirely the opposite case when they faced a team that had spent more than 45million pounds in the current transfer window. And it is not a case of one match only, Out of the last 6 away games, LFC had won only won, losing three times in the meantime.

After the match, Rodgers once again, lamented the team’ lack of depth as the deciding factor, but had someone asked him, It’s just a start of December, so how can you be so judgmental so early in a crunch week with the team getting a full weak off THANKS to last season memoirs. But once again the target of Liverpool fans were their owners as usual.

Taking a look at Liverpool transfer policy in the summer, there were more of optional buys rather than the necessary ones. But we will get onto that later. Liverpool spent 46m pounds earlier this season, that is quite a hefty amount, but the targets weren’t there and it were more of panic buys at the last day of window, so that’s exactly where Rodgers were at fault.

What Liverpool lack now is what Liverpool lacked before this season, excluding defending of course, but as they say "Attack is the best form of defence", Rodgers did exactly opposite.

Sakho, had been an excellent buy, but to be honest, is this what a club like LFC need, when they are in a certain mess regarding their finances. To pay 13million for a defender that has 1 year left on his contract, is the least what Liverpool fans demanded come end of last season.

Taking an example of last season, LFC conceded 43 goals and ironically Manchester United conceded exactly the same and Tottenham conceded more than 50 goals, but it is of course their attacking in which United scored 15 more than them, and that is where the difference has started.

Liverpool chased the likes of Eriksen, Mkhitaryan and Costa, but with a half of 100m pounds spent, they could have easily got Eriksen, Lamela that could have easily solved their depth woes in case of injuries.

And now entering the danger zone, Mignolet, he has been superb for LFC, but with a Spain number 2 in your ranks , will anyone call you wise if you spent that much chunk of money on a goalkeeper, and that too at a point when your main problem starts when any one of your main attacking players get injured.

If you have asked LFC fans either Alberto+Aspas or Eriksen, they would have gladly taken the latter, and infact they afforded him as well, but once again it was Rodger’s decision to go for raw talent.

So it would be important for Rodgers to get his priorities right when the Winter window arrives, otherwise this time he will be at the center stage, facing the heat from LFC fans for 6 months.

  1. When your team no longer has the ability to sign world class players and genuine talents because of losing the champions league spots, you have to admit that signing raw talents and bench-warmers is your only real option. Some prove to be a hit like coutinho and sturridge, while others still have a lot to prove. Plus, Reina hardly performed last season so it was time for him to go. I believe we have a secure future with Mignolet on our side. However, yes many important aspects have not yet been identified, Liverpool need to be able to lure some readymade midfielders as Liverpool don't seem to have much going on in the center of the park.
