Liverpool are going into this festive week with
the most weakened midfield arguably in top four, and against two sides that
have dominated Europe this season on the basis of their midfield, LFC chances
are feeble keeping the X factor from this LFC side apart, they are going into
both these games as underdogs, but same was the case when they faced Tottenham a week ago.
At the age of 33, Steven Gerrard cannot play every game, and if he manages to do so, cannot give his 100% every 90 minutes, "Take a look at last season" and with no Champions league this season, no Reus or Gundogan is coming Melwood in January, so that’s where Xabi Alonso would fit perfectly into Brendon Rodgers’ style of play.
Having played under different managers in his
career and always been the first choice, Alonso has the versatility that could
fit him, probably in any team, and what’s better than coming back to the team
where it all started.
In La Liga last season
Alonso averaged 67.4 passes per game—a team high at Real Madrid, and with Tiki
taka his favourite style, this would exactly be what Brendon would be hoping to
lure to Anfield.
Some would argue that his age is a binding
factor, but looking for short term options to reinvigorate this midfield into
challenging for top four, and the advantage the likes of Allen Henderson and
Lucas would get from having two midfield maestros would be awesome, and looking
at the form the former trinity is in, this would just serve as the ignition
point for reds.
“Stop Alonso, not Ronaldo”
Jurgen Klopp on stopping Real Madrid strike force in
last season Champions league.
Looking at the advantage Khedira and Modric
gained from his presence with them, and now running out of favor due to large
money spending Illarimendi, plus his injuries as a primary factor, the World
Champion maybe looking for greener pastures in January to cement his place in
the Spanish side that is going to the Amazon in summer.
Real Madrid haven’t loss a single match this
season in which Alonso had played, that describes his importance to the team,
plus at the age of 32, the passing style with an accuracy of 90% overall, the
effect on the match, he would just be a tailor made player once again for
Liverpool.
Alonso had played with the likes of Ozil,
Cristiano and his refusal to sign a contract extension is proving more than a
headache for Carlo Ancelloti, and that is where Liverpool should pounce on, if
not now than in summer, for a player who had been voted as the best midfielder
against the likes of Xavi and Iniesta in the La liga in 2012 season.
Looking at the transfer policy of Madrid
there are only a few players that have retired at the Bernabeu, with the likes
of Raul, Beckham in this list, and with this recent current statement of
Ancelloti implications are not looking too good
for the Spanish international.
"We have other important players and have played half of the season
without him and the results have been good."
Liverpool, if they are
serious, should make a move for him early because other teams are also in for
him, and with a player that cost Real Madrid £30 million, they won’t be allowing to
leave him for free in summer.

Took this seriously until I read the last paragraph... Alonso's contract runs out in the summer so he would be available for free duh! Or on the cheap in Jan. Fingers crossed he returns
ReplyDeleteYou dont get it, he will be free in summer and january will be the most importatnt month because clubs will gona try, and 30 million is not the price for now it was when he left lfc for madrid. duh
