Cristiano Ronaldo could win Ballon d'Or after his impressive performances against Sweden.

Ronaldo proved himself that he deserves to win the award by scoring a superb second half hat trick in a 3-2 win over Sweden in the World Cup play-off second leg yesterday.  He was also on the score sheet in the first leg played in Lisbon last week.

While Zlatan Ibrahimovic also played a good game, he scored twice for Sweden but the defence couldn’t prevent the goals from the Madrid star man.

Portugal will be a part of next year’s World Cup just because of Ronaldo.

Ronaldo said that his celebrations were not pointed to the FIFA president Sepp Blatter following his recent comments about the Madrid star player.

Ronaldo said that He does not have to respond to anyone, his answers are given on the pitch.
He insisted that he is not eager to win the award. The 28 year old does not live his life obsessed with titles and does not have to show anything to anyone, because he has shown his worth on the field.
He further added that scoring 40 to 50 goals every season is not an easy thing.

FIFA confirmed that the date for Ballon d'Or nominations has been delayed due to a low number of responses from the voters, while those who have submitted their vote has the chance to change their mind. The award ceremony will be held in Zurich, Germany on January 13.

Media, national coaches and captains are involved in the voting process for Ballon d'Or award and the 28 year old will be the favourite now, he has scored sixty seven goals in all competitions over the calendar year to date, that must put him in a strong position.

The former Manchester United man faces a tough competition from Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi and treble winning Bayern Munch’s winger Franck Ribery, who helped France to make a comeback to beat Ukraine in the second leg yesterday.
