Brendan Rodgers side coming on the back of
three consecutive vicotries in all competitions, will welcome David Moyes's men
on Sunday, 2nd September at Anfield (UK time 1:30pm).It will be the "The
chosen One", first ever trip to Anfield as Manchester United manager.
David
Moyes has never won on previous occasions with his former team Everton, another
bitter and local rivals of Liverpool. Reds skipper, Steven Gerrard believes
that this season Liverpool can close the gap on Manchester United as there is the
'spirit' and 'belief' within the Liverpool squad is 'different' than
ever.
Liverpool had to go into extra time on tuesday to overcome minnows Notts County, which according to the Liverpool captain has hampered the Merseyside outfit's preparations for the game on Sunday and has given the champions a "24-hour" resting advantage.
Ehh, mind games have begun which will add an
extra piece on the mouth watering clash.
Kolo Toure (groin), Aly Cissokoh (ankle) and
Joe Allen (hamstring) who were all injured during the clash with Notts county
and are all doubts for Sunday match.
Luis Suarez will not be available for selection as he is still serving the 10 match ban for biting Chelsea's Ivanovic last season. As for David Moyes, he will be without the services of J.Hernandez, Fletcher, Nani and Rafael through long term injuries.

Manchester united Claimed a 2-1 victory in each of the fixtures last season at Anfield and Old Trafford.
United talisman, Robin Van Persie has scored 6 times in his last 7 outings against Liverpool and 9 goals in his last 9 league matches. The Liverpool defence will have to keep a sharp eye out for the Dutchman who is again in sensational form after scoring 2 goals in 2 games, including a superb goal against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Matchday one.Liverpool's Daniel sturridge has scored 4 goals in 3 matches this season, including 2 winners in the Premier League against Stoke and Aston Villa. He has scored an impressive 10 goals in his last 8 appearances in all competitions. David Moyes's men will have quite a task on their hands to keep the Liverpool striker quiet.
Liverpool have not won against Manchester United at home in a league match since March 2011, when the match ended 3-1 thanks to Dirk Kuyt for an amazing hatrick. They will be hoping to extend their winning streak to 3 games on Sunday and increase the gap between the two teams.Four red cards have been dished out in the last five meetings between these two clubs.
If United win, they will have equaled Moyes' best ever start to a Premier League season (2006-07) with seven points from three matches.
My Prediction:
Liverpool 2-1 Manchester United!
