The reports believe that the French striker is now expected to leave Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Arsenal have been linked with him in the past and now it is expected that the Gunners are ready to offer £40million once the transfer window opens in January.
Wenger is planning to bring a replacement of Olivier Giroud who has failed to satisfy the needs of Arsenal.
The problem for the Arsenal fans is that Real Madrid will not be able to buy his replacement due to the FIFA transfer sanction. However, it could be lifted in the near future.
Benzema has netted 162 in 322 appearances for the Los Blancos since his move from Lyon back in 2009.
