Reports have suggested that Arsenal representatives are preparing to meet Mattia Destro’s agent who will be in London in the coming week for his client’s future.
The 23-year-old has been out of favour this season despite of having a fine goalscoring record for Roma. He has scored 23 goals in 52 appearances in Serie A but his all-round game has not attracted manager Rudi Garcia. This season, Destro has started only seven games and has scored four goals so far. Roma veteran Francesco Totti is still preferred despite of his age factor.
Reports have claimed that London sides Chelsea and Arsenal will be trying to sign Destro as he is open to a move away from Italy. Arsenal are currently in front of the race as they plan to wrap up the deal this week.
This might be a surprising news for Arsenal's fans as Arsene Wenger has already signed striker Danny Welbeck in summer plus Olivier Giroud is also back now from his injury. Despite of going for a midifleder as the first priority, Wenger is eyeing for another striker which possibly means a departure of Lukas Podolski or Joel Campbell who both have already told that they want to leave for regular football.
