Here are some of the teams that may have a glint of the World Cup trophy but are not firm favorites to land the most coveted footballing prize.
Chile
After the first few matches, Chile has emerged as a considerable force in the event. With tireless energy and effort, they have made a huge statement and have become one of the teams to watch this year.
Uruguay
Uruguay are also one of the better teams in the competition. With their star man Luis Suarez, they are set to fire in front of goals. Their hopes have suffered a setback but they still possess enough strength in attack and defence to cause any team problems.
France
France are no longer the same team as they were a few years ago especially with the retirement of the legend Zinedine Zidane. The injury to Franck Ribery has weakened them further but they are still in with a big shout in the cup. They have a strong backline and a good attacking arsenal but perhaps fall just short as compared to the other big boys in the tournament.
Portugal
Portugal have a chance at the World Cup perhaps only because of one man, Ronaldo, in their team. He has to carry the weight of the nation on his shoulders to give them a swing at the World Cup.
Belgium
Belgium have incredible talent this year and this is perhaps the golden generation that can get them glory at the international stage. The stars in their team, however, are very young and may buckle under the pressure. Thats why I feel this is not their year but watch out for them in the future! They have the potential to take the world by storm in the coming years!
