Few days ago, reports suggested that Miranda is close in joining the Red Devils, the amount believed to be in the region of £24 million but according to recent reports the link with United has stopped as now Barcelona are taking interest in the 29-year-old center half.

Spanish media Marca said:
The Catalan linked to his agent on last Wednesday for negotiating but the La Liga champions have no intentions of letting him go.

Barca are eyeing two defenders this summer to bolster their squad for next season.

Miranda conceded only 26 goals in 2013-2014 season which led Atlético to win their La Liga title after 18 years. The Brazilian is on the standby list for the World Cup squad.

Due to the link with Barcelona, United are now looking for Dortmund defender Mats Hummels.

United need two class defenders who can fill up the places of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic both who retired recently.
