It is always difficult to choose top players from a long list of legends.

gerrard lfc all time best

Here are the top players of Liverpool for me.

5. John Barnes (1987–1997)
The 50-year-old winger made a great impression both on and off the pitch by becoming the first black player for Liverpool during a time of deep racial inequality.

He was unstoppable winger especially in 1987-88 season when he was awarded the football player of the year award as Liverpool won the title

The Jamaican born player scored 108 goals in 407 games for Liverpool in his 10 successful years at Anfield. He was blessed with power, pace and skill.

4. Ian Rush (1980-1987 and 1988-1996)
Liverpool all-time top scorer with 346 goals in 660 appearances. He was a tireless worker, a perfect attitude and a top man.

The Welsh striker won five league titles, three FA Cups, five League Cups and two European Championships. And many individual award including golden boots of different competitions.

3. Billy Liddell (1938–1961)
Another winger with many different qualities. He played 16 years at Liverpool and scored 228 in 534 matches for the Reds.

He was LFC’s leading goal scorer in the league in 8 out of 9 seasons from 1949-50 to 1957–58.

The Englishman died on 3rd July 2001.

2. Kenny Dalglish (1977–1990)
King Kenny scored 172 goals for Liverpool, his goal in 1978 European Cup final is unforgettable.

Dalglish and Rush were the deadliest strikes of their time.

After retiring from football he remained a loyal servant to LFC and managed LFC for six years and gave the many trophies including three league titles, two FA Cups and a League Cup.

1. Steven Gerrard (1998–Present)
Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard has providing constant force from the midfield since his debut for LFC under manager Gerard Houllier back 1998 against Blackburn Rovers.

The 33 year old is currently playing 16th season for Liverpool. He has scored 162 goals in 646 games for Liverpool. A complete midfielder has also made more than 100 caps for his country.
