Barclays Premier League Match Preview: Tottenham vs Liverpool. Tottenham is 3 points behind the Reds. LFC is on 3rd position. Brendan Rodgers has led Liverpool to 2nd place in December

The football weekend in the Premier League is concluded with the encounter between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.  Although Liverpool has generated some eye-catching games this season, there is just 3 points between the sides as they meet at White Hart Lane.
Match Preview: Spurs vs Liverpool (BPL)

Spurs
Andre Villas-Boas' side go into the game on the back of a five-match unbeaten performance - including four wins - which has removed some of the stress on their under-fire manager after their lacklustre 6-0 rout at Manchester City.

Possibly more important than the results was a hat trick for the Spaniard Roberto Soldado, who has been on the bench for Tottenham's in the last two league games.

Liverpool
Brendan Rodgers has led Liverpool to 2nd place in December, which is no mean feat taking into consideration they missed out on European competition all together previous season. Many might have seen this as a positive, looking at the effect the Europa League has had on Tottenham’s season. Luis Suarez has been remarkable so far this season since coming back from his suspend, and maintaining the Uruguayan could be the catalyst for a come back to the Champions League.

There is no question that the Reds will have to finish off in the top four to make sure Suarez doesn’t leave upcoming summer. They have only dropped one of their last 5 matches, but that loss came away at Hull. Liverpool was weak that day and they will need to develop this weekend if they are to pick up points at White Hart Lane.

Liverpool will definitely experience the loss of talisman and skipper Steven Gerrard this weekend, as he has been ruled out for up to 30 days. The Liverpool legend has defied his critics who state he is too old, by providing a number of performances which show that class is timeless.

Probable Line Ups:

Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris, Walker, Dawson, Capoue, Naughton, Dembele, Paulinho, Lennon, Holtby, Soldado, Townsend.
Injured: Vertonghen (ankle).
Doubt: Rose, Chiriches (knee), Kaboul (quad), Eriksen (match fitness).

Liverpool: Mignolet, Johnson, Sakho, Skrtel, Flanagan, Lucas, Allen, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Suarez.
Injured: Coates, Enrique (both knee), Sturridge (ankle), Gerrard (hamstring).

Conclusion
This could be a major game that shows us a lot about both teams. Liverpool let down in their previous visit to North London, losing 2-0 to Arsenal. They will want to repair that with a powerful performance in this tie and know that versus a sometimes dodgy high-line they can have joy against Spurs.

For Spurs, they will want to display that they are really serious about their bid for a top four finish having hit a brick wall to beat any of the sides challenging for the top spots, losing versus Manchester City and Arsenal, while drawing at home to Chelsea and Liverpool. This will be a very revealing fight, between two potentially very good teams.
